I'm not surprised, the issues identified in the linked article are the exact reasons I didn't like the bill. I'm for some changes, but it just doesn't make a difference when the mentally ill, drug addicts, and criminals aren't dealt with.

From the article:
"mandating that gun owners lock their firearms in a safe; and making it a felony if a gun owner’s firearm that is not properly locked away is stolen and used in the commission of a crime."

That's simply not true. Read the initiative itself.

And yeah the 18-21 age range issue is problematic. However, it just extended existing law for pistols in that regard to semi-auto rifles. So if the pistol law was not successfully challenged I don't know what ground they would have with rifles.

notnamed, I think the main issue lies with the defining of ALL semi-auto rifles as "assault rifles".

I also don't like the fact that at 18, one can enlist and be killed in the line of duty yet not be able to purchase a pistol, "assault rifle" or even have a beer.

The people voted! This is what we want in Washington! The NRA should butt out.

Agreed, but that's just not really a new problem introduced by this.

The people of Washington would vote to restrict First Amendment rights as well, so the state really has no business stomping on the Constitution punishing those who have done nothing wrong

State's rights. One can always move to a more gun friendly state. Guns aren't illegal in Washington, we just voted for some controls.

Funny when liberals use stand on state’s rights or The Constitution when reinforces their agenda...

One could also always move to a more liberal country with no guns at all.

Well, they don't specifically mention a SAFE, but ...
