Mainstream media is as political as ever, imo.

Agree the US could have learned from Taiwan, S. Korea and Vietnam.

They have not.

It'll be several months at least for the US if things go better.

The second wave will likely hit in the Fall or Winter and will probably be worse.

. . . unless more of us get out and get some immunity. The death rate for healthy people under age 60 is miniscule.

I'm 63. Am I doomed? I know I'll die sometime.

But seriously my resistance is still up there.

I get the economic concerns, but do you really think an unchecked pandemic wasn’t going to cause a recession as well?
Waves will continue as long as there is no cure or vaccine. Choices are to shut down possibly for years leading eventually to starvation or opening up and building immunity up while the most vulnerable take precautions and hope for a cure or vaccine.

We're about the same age so even though we may be in great shape for our age, it's still a risk so I'm avoiding it like the plague. Even though I will take extreme precautions, I don't want to restrict what other people including my kids and grandkids do as they are far lower risk and need to work and we need them to work by the way. I also don't think Inslee or any Governor has the authority to restrict people in the say they've done. Though it might be a good idea to social distance, hard to accept that a Governor can order an 18 year old male not to see his girlfriend.

We don't know if getting it / having anti-bodies gives immunity - but I certainly hope it does.

Agree that the death rate is low.

My husband is 67, and he is not afraid. He still goes out and volunteers, does some of the shopping, and is eager to start having guests at the house.

We don't have this from studies, but I think if large numbers of people were getting it a second time, we certainly would hear about it.
