ROFL - talk about having "forgotten how it started"

It started in North America in a state with a DEMOCRATIC GOVERNOR.

Time for you to wake up and smell the Folgers Crystals.

Sad... has cost many lives, jobs, and years of productivity gains/ advancement in medical care, society, and economy.

It is not usually the governments who know or responsibly prescribe behaviors and policies to "contain" medical outbreaks... tho they could (and some do). Citizens of some countries KNOW their governments are up to no good and don't have a clue, so those citizens 'responsibly' take matters into their own hands for the safety and benefit of their friends, families, neighbors, and country. (not at all for the benefit of their ineffective government who will take the credit if successful, but never the blame.)

USA populace, tho presumingly educated(?), has and continues to "Not_Have_a_Clue". Surprised? I'm not. (having lived in several countries). Most friends from other countries are not surprised either. but... Our enemies are pretty surprised

EZ, Ez, ez to conquer. No military offensive required.

Can all be done from 'within' and 'self destruct'.

As shown in New Zealand, Austrialia, Taiwan, and other countries this in the only thing to stops the spread of the virus.

The vaccine production is ramping up and most at risk people will be mostly vacinnated in less than two months.
If Washington state can hold off spread of the variant for a month or so it will save thousands of lives.

Inslee is not a great fan of doing ANYTHING when it comes to the virus except talk and put small business out of business, while protecting the corporations. Remember he actually TOLD people to travel to the high school state basketball tournaments as the virus exploded in Washington state!!!!

But this is real serious and it is for a short period of time

Some news from Ireland....do searches on the variant and its impact in other places in the world. Seen odds that it is a 40% of becoming a world wide disaster on a scale we have not seen since the Europeans brought disease to the new world.

Well, in my county, people 70. and over are lining up the night before and sleeping in their cars to get vaccinated. Those who tried to sign up online crashed the county appointment program within a few hours of the first day to sign up.

The neighboring county is only offering this round of Moderna to those people who are at least 85 years old.

I only ever thought I would see something like this in the movies. You go, Jay!

I don't often find myself agreeing with StealthRabbit, but this is one of those instances.

Americans are so ridiculously selfish when it comes to any infringement of our precious freedoms, whether real or imagined.

Yes, we want you to wear a mask. Why is that so controversial for so many Americans?

And completely correct about not trusting the government to look out for you. Our federal government did everything it could to undermine or prevent any real response, and state governments weren't much better. The smart play is to take care of yourself by purposely limiting your out of home activities. Wearing a mask. Washing your hands.

But that's too hard for Americans, and indeed, our adversaries have learned a lot about us. Our weaknesses WILL be exploited, count on it.

Where it LANDED has more to do with where most of our economic and international travel hubs are. So no, a man from Wuhan was probably not going straight to Mississippi or rural Tennessee (at least not first).

Personally, I had expected California, but between here and Vancouver BC, which also has lots of ties with Asia, it's not difficult to understand why we got it first in nation. Makes sense.

That man from Snohomish County was isolated and no outbreak was associated to him personally. Of course, all borders were open and no restrictions, anywhere, so that first case almost doesn't matter... it was clearly already pouring into all the international airports. Remember Italy and the outbreak in Michigan? We know a guy in Detroit that helped kickstart that one off... he had traveled to Italy in January and brought it home with him...

Try again..

Says one who does not live in a world of absolutes, but survived SARS and MERS living in SE Asia where we learned a LOT from the past and who offered unbridled and timely advice to USA (and Europe) for Covid.

One only has to look at the 3rd world countries who are far more successful at Covid control than a select few 'developed' countries. This is no surprise to those who have been around the block a few times (with youthful / arrogant managers).

I have always kept keen interest on Germany, as well as a nearby German centric county next door to one of my USA locations. They each have far less than 1/2 the USA cases /m.

UK and France are a mess, as is always expected, but they do have a plan and can initiate it as a country, rather than throw mud at the wall from 56 entities as the USA is doing. Having also worked in NMI, they seem to be doing pretty well and not utilizing the HC suggestions of 'big brother' USA.

Knowing the high density living / commuting / working of Asia countries, it is amazing the Wide-Open 'outdoor centric' USA can get it SO WRONG.

Doesn't matter where it landed.

It did matter how Jay Inslee and others mis-managed the outbreak.

Remember that Friday afternoon, when the Vice-President of the United States was flying out to meet with Jay??? He brought the now famous Fauci and Brixit with him.

That morning Jay told everybody to go ahead and attend the state basketball tournaments in Spokane, Yakima, and Tacoma. The Mayor of Seattle told everybody in Seattle to invite their friends and families to visit Seattle. It was that safe in her eyes.

The Vice-President of the United States is flying out on a Friday afternoon with the two people responsible for infectious disease in the United States. Did Jay think that was a social visit?? That it had nothing to do with the virus??

Remember it took something like 40 days for the state of Washington to show up at the Kirkland facility!!! REALLY, you have people dying and the state of Washington Health Department doesn't even show up for a infectious disease deaths!!! What is their their job??

The list go on....but remember President Elect-Biden was opposed to Operation Warp Speed. If he were President last spring we would be STILL A YEAR away from the vaccine.

Lots of people died because of Governor Inslee and his mistakes in handling the pandemic.

Inslee and Biden....two rather "slow" individuals. Does not bode well for the future course of the pandemic.

If they have a plan, apparently it's not working as it is not working in most of Europe, Canada, US, Mexico and all of South America. What does Europe have in common with the US? Similar culture and free movement of citizens (European Union). The only countries that contained covid are islands plus some isolated small Asian countries. And no, I don't believe China's fake numbers.

Pfizer developed their vaccine independently of Operation Warp Speed. They only had a deal to sell it to the US as part of the operation. Without that deal it still would have been developed at the same rate, but would have been sold more to the rest of the world. I don't recall Biden ever saying anything opposing it either, just criticizing it's performance. Given the weird lies the team has been making to several states about vaccine stock available, there might be a bit of a mess under it all.
