When would be a good time to see them? I'm trying to make plans with friends for either next weekend or the weekend after that, this isn't a situation where we can be flexible. Once they reach "full bloom" or whatever the level is that draws tourists, is that gone in a couple days or does it last at least a week?

The tulips are starting and not at their peak. They should go through April blooming until they top them. It depends on the weather how fast they bloom and how long they last. You can check back with the bloom map to get status updates. Here's the map:

When the area's roads are an elderly demolition derby and several mile backups on I-5 in both directions from the Mt. Vernon and Burlington exits, you'll the know the Tulips have bloomed!

True! I avoid the area during tulip season. Every side street is jammed then, too. Maybe with reservations needed this year that will be different.

We went a little early, bet it’s better now. Prefer Roozengaarde.

My wife and took the day off and rode our bikes around the whole area yesterday. Still a decent amount of yellow out right now, but it's still a little early for the wide variety of color from the tulip fields, especially from the ones that you can usually see from the road.

This weekend or next should be prime viewing, though extremely busy given the forecast.

We were out at TulipTown Friday. About 90% full bloom. 100% crowded.

There are plenty of blooms still to see at Tulip Town, but weekday is highly recommended over a weekend. We went on a Wednesday and it was still pretty busy. One of the young women working there told me they are getting upwards of 8,000 people a day on weekends.

Now, if I can figure out when Wenatchee area is in full bloom. Hearing both 'this Thursday' to mid- to late-May. Both from folks over there who should know. Hard to believe, though, that they could bloom late May and still get a crop on time.
Think we'll head over this week.
