Weirdly, one of the heaviest rains I've experienced anywhere in Washington was near Wenatchee. It was last fall. Even with my wipers on the highest setting I could barely see. I was going to go to Lake Chelan on the way back from Okanogan County but, once again, the universe really didn't want me to.

I went through that one just north of Blewett Pass where my vacation home is located.

It didn't come close to the flash floods and storms we have had in Wenatchee.

But it was intense in the mountains. The rain turned to sprinkles when I hit Cashmere, and NO RAIN from that cell in Wenatchee!!! But as least it ended fire season around the second home.

Didn't go up there this weekend to see if it rained there. It is ten miles as the crow flies from Wenatchee. I could see clouds up in that direction though.

Oh, no, I must have missed that! My internet reception is sketchy here in the bunker. I'll run up & adjust my coathanger antenna.

We have been here 27 years, and typically the rain starts about September 22nd, so it was just a little early. I noticed that already lawns are starting to turn green again.

I don't believe it's that different in Sammamish but my observations are the first real rain is somewhere around Sep 15-20 (does not last that long) but the more consistent rain does not usually start until Mid October. The forecast shows something similar.

There are many microclimates here though the Puget Sound region is generally similar. Even here in Sammamish we will have rain or snow when the forecast or current conditions are dry or rain, because they measure conditions at Inglewood Jr. High, but we are 200' higher elevation at 600' and that makes a difference.

Sammamish gets an average 53" of rain, 21 miles west Seattle gets just 37", and 20 miles to the east North Bend 67".

The microclimates still fascinate me. I could drive from work to home & go through half a dozen

I can beat that...Sequim get about 15-16 inches of rain a year and 85 miles west Forks get 110-120 inches of rain a year.
