That's crazy! I bet folks plants don't know what to do. No, spring is not here yet!!

It supposed to get into the 60s at the coast this weekend. I'm heading to the N. Oregon coast. Brookings will be 73 tomorrow.

I am not sure this is proof of global warming as I think we need a much bigger statistical outlook.

But yes, 70 in Tricities WA is quite rare in early February. Hard to say if it is a trend or an aberration.

At the very least, its likely a record breaker. I'm guessing its currently an aberration which is slowly becoming more frequent due at least in part to global warming. If it's happening at the poles, why not elsewhere as well?

Speaking of the changing weather in your area, I just saw this from the National Weather Service. It looks last last summer broke all-time state heat records very close to you - 120 degrees! Let's hope that doesn't become more frequent come summer time.
Washington state's new maximum temperature record: 120 degrees Fahrenheit

Yes, there was extreme heat in Tri cities in late June 2021. I don’t know what to make of this. When I lived here in the 90’s there was a similar extreme high. I would guess that these events occur in the Tri cities occasionally but are not normal.

Our local mountains are light on snow right now.
Wifey was saying hopefully that doesn’t mean a dry summer again.

Yep, we're hoping it never gets as bad as California for those who moved to get away from the constant draughts and ever increasing fire seasons. The state has changed a lot over the years from when I grew there and enjoyed some good solid rain during the winter months. Heck, I remember surfing in the hale as a kid along with some big rain storms. It was a winter right of passage.

Well, record breaker for a hundred years of data.

However, climate change historically has been much greater than the weather we have had in the last century in the West.

It appears that the last 100 years have been abnormally WET and STABLE in the western US. We might be returning to a NORMAL weather pattern of drier weather and also coupled with greater extremes in both temperatures and precipitation.

One reason Washington state is farmland rather than cattle country is a blizzard in early May, in the late 1800's killed off the cattle industry, leaving eastern Washington open to farmers "stealing" the cattle lands.

116-120 is indeed out of the norm but does occur in the Columbia basin occasionally. 100 plus days are common but usually amount to about 4-5 days per year on average. Mostly July and early August, but this recent episode was late June! Mother Nature does not always follow the calendar!

We need to realize that global warming is real. But that doesn’t mean certain locations don’t follow the trends exactly. If your current community is not warming it doesn’t mean the climate is not warming. We all need to take a more global view than a local view.
