What exactly is “prolonged face to face contact” ?
I’m not sure I’ve heard that term before.

Think "contact of Body fluids" (sound familiar?)
within a couple feet for longer than 15 min (Like an airplane if someone is over 17-1/2" W-I-D-E, but quite unlikely if not in direct contact) (Tray tables, window shades, Airport touch-screen check-in terminals, hand rails, lift (elevator) buttons)
Be covered, be sanitary, take precautions (Launder your clothes)

More likely, physical contact, or sharing articles of clothing, wash clothes, bedding with a contagious person.

More intimate contact...(Similar documented spread as with AIDS)

Apparently, there is some speculation that a close-vicinity aerosol is possible...

It seems to me that the CDC is going to turn into The Boy Who Cried Wolf, if they keep recommending masks for every little thing that might have the slightest chance of a mask helping.

Eventually they are going to become background noise and no one is going to care what they say.

If you have heeded CDC on anything since Jan 2020, you are participating in the disataster they broadcast as science.

Just get the straight scoop from numerous well scienced sources. (Such as an informed 4th grader).

This is not a homosexual disease and it doesn't do anyone any good to try to think of it that way.

If monkey pox is anything like small pox, it can be transferred from place to place on fabric. The settlers used to kill off natives by gifting them blankets that were contaminated with the smallpox virus.

I suspect that just about any disease you want to think of can be transmitted through sex, because that is when you are close and breathing on people and spitting on them and exchanging bodily fluids, but very few of those diseases are limited in transmission to only sexual contact.

It causes pustules and you can get it by contact with the pustules and that includes bumping into a stranger at the grocery store.

It doesn't sound like a dangerous disease to me, but what might be dangerous is thinking that it is a disease of homosexuals and no one else has to worry about it.

Preventing monkeypox infection is the best accomplished by avoiding contact with the infected and any contaminated materials, limiting contact with both live and dead wild animals as well as by practicing good hand hygiene. However, vaccination against smallpox has proven approx 85% effective in preventing Monkeypox. Also, those with prior smallpox vaccination who become infected may present with a milder form of illness.
