Does anyone know if they developer and builder that built the Cooper Crest neighborhood in West Olympia has fixed the water drainage problems? We are ready to put an offer in and ran across this article while researching the builders:
Complaints persist at Cooper Crest - News - The Olympian - Olympia, Washington (http://www.theolympian.com/news/story/386039.html - broken link)

Now we are a little gun shy, does anyone know about this neighborhood and should we buy?
thanks

Pbring,

I helped a client purchase a new-construction home in Cooper Crest a few years back. The builder, "Soundbuilt", turned the home over to her with significant issues. My client needed to close on the home and the contract stated that the builder would complete repairs after closing. None of the issues were ever repaired after closing. I complained for weeks and wrote to the president of the company. My client ended up spending thousands of dollars to have the yard re-landscaped.

If she was to sell her house now, a buyer could be re-assured that everything is the way it should be.

I would be very leery about buying a new home at Cooper Crest. If you're considering making an offer on a re-sale home, carefully study the seller's disclosure and hire a good home inspector.

Sandy

'Sandy, and Prple ....Thanks for the info, apparently the "fixing" is still being done. That coupled with the all the negative publicity, and their "C" rating with the Better Business Bureau was enough to turn us off. We put an offer in and got accepted on a house in Crosby Heights neighbor hood in Tumwater. Poor Soundbuilt and their developer missed out on my money, well goes to show you how pride of workmanship and customer service and word of mouth can make or break your business. Again thanks for the help!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm glad you performed your due diligence and found a better neighborhood. Congratulations on your accepted offer at Crosby Heights.

It saddens me that Cooper Crest has this reputation when most houses in there HAVE NO ISSUES AT ALL. Many new home builders, including the one for Madera in W. Olympia, promise to fix things after closing and may take a little while to do so. They build so many houses at once and only have so much man power. We have a home in Cooper Crest, and we love it and the neighorhood, including the area and neighbors. We had everything fixed within 2 months after we moved in. There are only a handful of homes with the water issues, which mainly sit at the bottom of the hill. Many neighborhoods have water issues. If people are intersted in buying a new home, they should check Cooper Crest. They may find a home that they fall in love with. Just be sure to get a home inspection like you would on any other home in any other neighborhood.
