My family and I are moving to the Fort Lewis area this summer. MY daughter will be in the 10th grade is a pretty good volleyball player. My son who is going into the 8th grade is pretty decent at football, basketball and baseball. It seems as if most of the high schools in the area are pretty good as far as academics (with a few exceptions). Can anyone tell me which high schools have good sports programs and are considered "athletic" high schools?

Thank You!!

Lakes HS in Steilacoom has a good program, and Curtis HS in University Place is very good with probably the best facilities in the area. I'm not sure what you'll find if you go south...Olympia HS is pretty competitive, but a bit far from Ft Lewis. Bellarmine has an outstanding program, but as a private school is $.

The Olympia High School doesn't just have an outstanding athletics program, it's in the top 5% of public high schools nationwide academically. If you mapquest the drive from Curtis High School in University Place to Fort Lewis, and do the same with the Olympia High School, the commute time difference is less than one minute.

Regards,

Sandy
