Hi,
My gf and I got admitted into grad school. The only problem is that I got admitted at UBC and she got admitted at University of Washington. We are therefore looking for a place to live between Vancouver and Seattle. Hopefully we can find something nice. Any help would be greatly appreciated. As of now we have come up with Bellingham however, we have heard that there is a lot of crime in that area and therefore are not sure. BTW we are both coming from montreal, Quebec

Bellingham is not full of crime. There might be a few blocks to not live in, but it's very mellow and safe compared to most east coast cities.

Ah, a fellow Montrealer! Crime on the American side isn't that bad for the US--you could do a lot worse. In fact, the property crime rate is much lower, so your computers and car will be safer!

I assume that you wish to live in the US. Bellingham has the basics, including a Target! Alcohol is also reasonably priced, which will help your graduate studies enormously. I know. And there's a train station there, which means trips to Seattle could be done without a car. To Vancouver, sadly, you will have rather long border waits in your vehicle and the most unfriendly CBSA guards I have ever met (they're not all bad, though).
