Olympia is the home of The Evergreen College and St. Martin's University. It is located at the bottom of Puget Sound and has beautiful water views. You may sail, kayak, or canoe in the Sound or Budd Inlet (which is at the very top of the downtown section. It is a good location for people affiliated with Ft. Lewis or McChord AFB.

The weather is typical Pacific NW: You may have rain, then 5 minutes later, sun, or you may have a gorgeous sunny day that's not too hot. You may even appreciate the rain, which keeps the beautiful Douglas fir forests going. The drive through Olympia on I-5 (Tumwater, Olympia, Lacey -- pretty much all one town) is tree-lined all the way to Ft. Lewis.

Olympia is Washington's capital. The capitol building is located at the top of a hill, above Capital Lake, where you may also kayak or canoe (free, with boat provided) every other Thursday; every Thursday in the summer).

The air is clean, there are only 3-4 hot days a year, and it's located about 60 miles from Seattle.
