I am interested in moving to Olympia Washington with my husband and two children we are a Interracial family Hispanic/White and I would like to know if we would be accepted. We are a typical american family with american values who just happen to have different color skin but I know sometimes people cant see past this so I just wanted to get some information before I get my heart set on moving here. We are relocating from San Diego but have previously lived in los angeles. I know that Olympia is not as diverse but I also know this does not mean that there is necessarily a negative attitude toward diversity either. Do you think that we would be accepted in Olympia?

I've previously lived in many parts of the US and I can honestly say that I've never encountered such a broad acceptance and even celebration of diversity as here in Olympia. I'm sure racism and prejudice can be found everywhere, but it is not prevalent or blatant in Olympia.

In Olympia?

This is Olympia WA we are talking about right??
You will be fine in Olympia, I promise you that. Thats because WA is not dirverce compared to other parts of the country that people just haven't experienced the negative parts of it. So you will be just fine.

Olympia is the most liberal city in the state I believe. No worries at all for your family.

Thank you all for your posts I think that olympia will be a good place for us I just wanted to get some opinions from the people that live there. Sometimes I get intimidated mostly because my children are small and I know that they will be in school but it sounds like olympia is a good place for them to be. Thank you

I live about 15 minutes from Olympia. Interracial couples shouldn't have any problems in such a politically correct town. In my city, I live in a quiet multi-racial neighborhood (our homeowners association head is an African-American woman, in fact) and everything is pretty mellow. So have fun and enjoy!

A greatly overused cliche.
