Thanks mthomson, i'm pretty happy with everything I've read so far. Seems like a good place for my husband and I.

You may also consider the port orchard, and of course the private schools in the area. In respect on accessiblity the library is also in the Pt Fosdick area.

Can anyone comment on the community vibe in GH?

2. Are there many 30 somethings in GH? We're a newly married couple and it will be important that we make a few friends in our area. We're not really concerned with age (our friends here in Australia range from their early twenties all the way up into their fifties) but it would be nice to have even just a few friends within our age bracket. Can anyone comment on this?
Gig Harbor is great if you have small children or belong to a church. Otherwise there is not much interaction with others. You might consider finding a home in a neighborhood that seems to have lots of interaction, as that's a good way to meet people. As far as transportation, the bus service is extremely limited, running up and down one long street, so you'll need to be careful about where you choose to live, as the area is quite spread out residentially.

So we're here!

After all the planning, we finally arrived. Gig Harbor is BEAUTIFUL! I'm so glad that we chose this place as our home!
