Moving to longview, read princessmama 2006 and I have the same questions 2011 but we are not black and white, we are actually pacific island and white. I lived in vancouver for a summer and was not too pleased about some of the activities there but I kept my nose out the business and sailed through it without incident. I will say it was lonely. I ended back in california because it was just not my time.... well I'm on my way back this time to stay for awhile, bringing my kids and boyfriend. He may have a job there maybe not.....I may have one but in portland....I've been to camas just didn't like that big ol'smoke thing that's going on there but the town seemed nice...where can I move my fam without all the bs

Can anyone tell me how effective a "95% efficient electric furnace" and "heat pump" is. We are looking into Kalama WA and all the new houses are built without natural gas. This freaks me out coming from CA. Not sure what to expect for a family of 7 when it comes to an electric bill for an all electric house. Any info would be appreciated.

It depends on how much the utility (P.U.D.?) is paying for their power. In Seattle, for instance, electric power is actually less expensive than natural gas, due to getting most of their power from hydroelectric sources, from their own dams and Bonneville.

I'd just contact the utility and ask them how their rates compare to natural gas.

For that family of 7, buy sweaters and turn the thermostat down to 60 through winter. For summer, use NW AC - open windows and doors.
