I think Seattle-Tacoma-Bellingham-Olympia are connected to each other more than just I-5. They are the most liberal compared to most other areas in Western Washington. They all have great colleges in them, and no other place in Western Washington have colleges as good as the ones found in Seattle, Tacoma, Bellingham, and Olympia. They all are on the East side/south side of Puget sound. They are relatively more diverse than some other areas in Western Washington.

I would say Bellingham, and Olympia are more similar to Seattle and Tacoma than Everett is.

These towns/cities do have differences from each other but have a lot of similarities.

While eastern Washington is more conservative than Western Washington, there are people that are liberal that can be found there. The Spokane area went 50/50 for Obama and Mccain. Some places in Central Washington have only a slight conservative/republican lean less than 60%.

What, no Dry-Sh*tties (er, Tri-Cities) option in the poll?

I think Seattle is very liberal and the rest of the state is pretty moderate. Even conservatives I have come across in Eastern WA were more on the moderate side compared to say the Deep South. It's the kind of conservative somebody from Berkeley, Boulder, or Cambridge could hardly wrap their mind around. Sure there are pockets of bed wetting liberals and right wing nut jobs around the state like any other place. I did see more protesting in Seattle during the Bush years than anywhere else I've lived and Glenn Beck is from Everett amd grew up all over the Puget Sound area from Pierce County to Mt. Vernon, thus his disdain for unions was probably painted largely by Boeing whichly likely catapulted him into the deep end. However I'm looking at the state as a whole. One thing I liked about WA is it doesn't seem politics dominate most peoples lives. WA is a western state and has that live and let live western spirit that I like and it makes people easier to get a long with. Moderation makes people more rational and less divided.

The best part? Why, the part I'm in, of course!

...and I don't mean that the way it sounds. The best part depends upon my mood, but usually, anywhere I am, at some point it usually crosses my mind "This is beautiful!" or "I sure like this place." While I am partial to the dry side, I still appreciate the wet side...

Default Northeat WA/Pend Oreille County

probably the least known part of WA with a population of only 12,900 is Pend Oreille County. It's very green and a lot of good summer water recreation.

We should also inform unwitting western Washingtonians readers that Pend-or-ee-ell is pronounced Pon-der-ay.

Who knew?

One of my BEST known areas...I love it there. I about died when Ben Stein wrote an article about it several years ago in Time Magazine...all I could think of was all the people that would be moving in. Like it or not, population often destroys what makes a place special in the first place.
