My husband and I have decided to leave So Cal to raise our children in a better environment. We have researched Whidbey and visited several times but would like to find out more about school districts, etc from people who know. Also, Coupeville vs. Oak Harbor? What's the job market like? Anything at all...

HUGE difference between Oak Harbor, Coupeville and the south end. Where are you planning to live and I can fill you in. I live on the south end.

Default Check the school ratings

Hopefully, someone can respond and give you information on the schools but in the mean time, if you want to know more about the schools on Whidbey, you can check out a website which might be helpful. It lists test scores and opinions from parents, which in my opinion, is more helpful than just looking at test scores. The web address is GreatSchools.net. I think Coupeville and Oak Harbor are very different from one another. If I had a choice, I would choose Coupeville over Oak Harbor any day, but that's just my opinion. Good luck!

Hi! I run the Boys & Girls Club in Coupeville, but live in Oak Harbor. When my hubby and I moved her 20 months ago we wanted to live in Coupeville, but the available housing was zero. Coupeville is a lot smaller than Oak Harbor - very quaint and the people are wonderful! The Coupeville Schools are wonderful! Don't know much about the Oak Harbor schools. If you are looking for a small town (2000 residents) Coupeville is the place for you! Oak Harbor is of course larger and doesn't have that quaint small town feel. Peg

Hi Pegf,
thanks for responding. We have 3 young children; 1, 3 and 5 yrs. And obviously good schools are important. do you have any other info on Coupeville schools and kids sports /activities on the island? What about good daycare facilities? I would appreciate any info/knowledge you have to share. Coupeville is definitely where we want to be.
