How long do your area's seasons run?

In the NYC area I'd say:

Fall - 10 weeks (starts in Late-September and ends in Late-November)

Winter - 14 weeks (starts in Late-November and ends in Mid-March)

Spring - 11 weeks (starts in Mid-March and ends in Late-May)

Summer - 17 weeks (starts in Late-May and ends in Late-September)

This is just a rough estimation and varies from year to year but I'm glad to see Summer is the longest season.

Depends on how you define each season. For example, to some "winter" requires consistent snow cover and subfreezing 24hr average temps. To others, "winter" is any time it is too cold to wear shorts and t-shirt and go to the beach.

Toronto:

Winter: late-Nov to late-Mar
Mean daily temperature is below freezing (or colder) so snow can stick
Smilies:

Spring: early-April to mid-May
Nights mostly remain above freezing, but mostly of highs from 48-59 F mixed in with "nice" Spring days
Smilies:

Summer: late-May to mid-Sep
Days typically remain 65+ F
Smilies:

Fall: late-Sep to mid-Nov
Highs passing 65 F become scarce, plenty of highs in the 50's and 40's F

Fall - Early September to mid October - 40s/50s/60s for highs, 20s/30s/40s for lows
Winter - Mid October to mid/late April - -0s/0s/10s/20s/30s for highs, -10s/-0s/0s/10s/20s for lows
Spring - Early May to late May/early June - 40s/50s/60s/70s for highs, 20s/30s/40s/50s for lows
Summer - Early June to Late August - 50s/60s/70s/80s for highs, 40s/50s for lows

Early September is probably the "nicest" time of year. May's awesome too though.

The seasons in Vancouver, BC go something like this I would say in a normal year:

Fall - Mid September to end of November - this is the time when the rains return and the leaves change colours and fall off of the deciduous trees. Temps range from about 60F for highs to 30F for lows.

Winter - Beginning of December to end of February - this is cool and rainy with the occasional snowfall. Generally no leaves on the trees at all. Temps range from about 45F for highs to 15F for lows.

Spring - Beginning of March to beginning of June - It's still cool and showery except that there are things in bloom now. Temps range from about 60F for highs to 35F for lows.

Summer - Middle of June to middle of September - It's fairly sunny and warmish with the odd stray shower but fairly dry overall throughout the summer. Temps range from about 80F for highs to 50F for lows.

So, as you can see spring and fall are generally the longest seasons here with short summers and winters.

I live in Palermo, Italy.
The Winter starts in December and ends in marzo. The winter is a season with fairly frequent rains and snow in the mountains above 1300-1400 meters. In January the average maximum temperatures are about 12-14 ° C (54-57 F), minimum temperatures of about 7-8 ° (45-46F) during this season there are 2-4 coming cold spells that make snow under 900 meters. Rarely snow can fall on the beaches (especially of northern Sicily)[/SIZE] but for a few hours / minutes and a few inches. The storms and hail are frequent in winter.
Spring begins in late March or early April, during this season the rains fall and May are few. In the second half of the season starting the first heat waves with temperatures above 30-32 ° (86-90 F).Thunderstorms are rare and there are mainly on the eastern Sicily.
Summer starts in late May-early June and lasts until the second half of September but sometimes lasts until the first half of October. This season, the maximum temperatures are about 30-32 ° (86-90 F) and the minimum does not drop below 20 degrees (68 F).
Between June and August, rainfall is very scarce or absent but especially between the second half of August and September there are some strong thunderstorms.
Autumn begins in October (but sometimes also in the second half of September) and lasts until November. The temperatures are mild and frequent thunderstorms mainly between September and October.
During the year, falling about 650mm of rainfall (25.5 inches) concentrated mainly in the winter semester.
From 20 years of the twentieth century, the lowest temperature recorded in the city was -0.5 ° C (31.1 F), but a station of the biggest parks in Palermo (Parco della Favorita) recorded a minimum of less than -- 2 ° C (28.4 F).
The highest temperature recorded in the city was 45.0 ° C (113.F)
