Continental climates will always have more extremes. For example even NYC has been up to 23°C in January before from what I've heard.
Apparently in Feb 1998 it reached 18.6°C / 65°F at London Heathrow, 6 miles from where I lived in Windsor, the warmest temp on record in February in the UK.
18.6C was recorded at Heathrow that day but it's not the record. According to TORRO - British Weather Extremes: Daily Maximum Temperatures the record is a disputed 19.7C at Greenwich, or an undisputed 19.5C at Tivington that same date, a day I remember well. If we can get that in mid-February then a 20C in late February has to be possible (earliest on record is March 2nd). Ditto for the disputed 29.4 or the undisputed 28.9s recorded in London on 16.4.1949, it must be only a matter of time before we get a 30C in April. Now 13.7C here
