What is the weather usually like the first week of the new year as I am planning on relocating to AZ but not sure what way to travel as I don't know how bad the snow gets out West.

Relocating to Arizona from WHERE? It helps to know what states/cities you will be traveling through!

In Jan, any of those states could see wintery weather or it could be warm and sunny.

What part of Arizona are you moving to? Arizona is a big state.. the northern part of the state can be cold and snowy in the winter, whereas the southern/southwestern/western end tends to be considerably warmer. It would definately be helpful to know which part of the state it is.

Although you may have to drive through some wintry conditions, you'll arrive to sunshine and temperatures in the 60s and 70s.

yeah but what I am wondering if going via Flagstaff will be better in terms of snow or should I go via Tuscon?

I remember when I was on vacation in Jan that they almost had to close the interstate because of the hazardous conditions.

If it were me, I would definately stay in the more southern extremities as you travel west.

-Once you get to Oklahoma (Oklahoma City), take I-44 South, go through Wichita Falls.
-Hop on to Hwy 281, as you are leaving Wichita Falls.
-Stay on it till you get to I-20 west, and get on it. This will take you through Abilene, Midland, Pecos.
-Finally, hop onto I-10 west, and stay on it. That will take you all the way to Phoenix, and you will avoid the worst of the snow by far.
