Don't go for any walks tonight. Windchill values near -30 F!
Weren't you guys spoiled last winter? I guess now its payback time.
.
Yeah today is literally as cold for winchills as our coldest day last winter...and winter hasn't officially started yet!
Usually temps REALLY drop by mid-January...
Hopefully that trend doesn't happen, else we'll see 5+ days with highs below -18 C/ 0 F in Jan alone.
Where'd this snow come from? I read a Tweet that said it was snowing but I looked and saw nothing, then 2 hours later I sit down and see PIX 11's radar full of light blue (snow) then I look out the window and the street is dusty. This wasn't in the forecast.
I have to mark today's date down as our first snowfall lol.

Snowing here too.
BTW, is Mr. G still on PIX? I hear him on 101.1 FM in the morning.

I believe so, I'm almost sure that was him.
Just looked back out the window and I'd say we're in between a dusting and a coating. He said we could see half an inch. I wonder if this is Lake Effect snow reaching all the way down to us because it just came out of nowhere.
I think some folks might have missed my point about the cold in Miami:
I was not trying to say that they were trying to hype the coming cold snap in Miami – only that it gets down below 40 F on one or two nights in many years in Miami (yes, this is still very cold for Miami at 25 north). I just thought there might be posters for other parts of the USA or world who thought that temps below 40 F never occur in Miami.
In any event...it looks like once this cold snap passes by in the next two days, some old fashioned December Miami weather takes hold:

-26F in Ely and Crane Lake as of 11:55 PM CDT. The record low of -22F in Ely, set in 2007, has already been broken. It's clear in both places, and Ely has a dewpoint of -33F, so Minnesota may very well see a -30F low tonight.
The temperature as of roughly 8:00 a.m. Notice the narrow strip of the -20's (not explicit from the contours, though) stretching almost into the bottom of Wisconsin.
It was 3 when I looked out at 7 a.m., which is an exact match to the map, but not windy so that is a major plus!
I need to go to the post office, I drove around a little yesterday thought what am I doing out here, came back home!!! Two Rivers does a great job with the streets but they were still hard at work hauling snow away yesterday! They don't leave big piles of snow on corners, a good thing!

Reason: addition
A few days ago more than 4' of snow fell 40 or so miles NW of us (Tug hill plataeu)yet we got 4" - They get clobbered with lake effect.
Here today 14f at 8:00am, and now 28f in the sun. Mostly sunny with a very light wind. The windmill is hardly turning, maybe 120 rpm if that.
Our record low was -31f in Feb 94.
