I love Google Earth, I spend hours on it. I calculate distances and look at the elevation of the local land, its quite fascinating. I thought it would be interesting to see where everyone lives with respect to distances.
Here are some distances:
Paris - 600 miles.
Madrid - 1000 miles
Rome - 1200 miles
Warsaw - 1100 miles
Berlin - 900 miles
Reykjavik - 800 miles
Oslo - 700 miles ( I was shocked at how close Oslo was)
Athens - 1900 miles
Istanbul - 1900 miles
Tenerife -2000 miles
Azores - 1400 miles
Cyprus - 2300 miles
Moscow - 1800 miles

Thats all within Europe. Outside Europe we have:
Dubai - 3800 miles
Los Angeles - 5000 miles
Seattle - 4400 miles
Cape town - 6300 miles

Milan is closer than Lerwick.. the 600 mile trip to Nice doesn't seem that far either when you look at it.. I am closer to Dijon than I am to Owen
London: 168 miles

Dublin: 197 miles
Amsterdam: 281 miles
Brussels: 321 miles
