How about a nicer Russian climate:

Sochi - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Almost an A for me, but the winters are a bit cool and rather cloudy overall. B or B+.

I would have to give it a C, which is pretty generous for a subtropical climate considering my preferences. Temperatures are tolerable, plentiful precipitation, and cloudier than where I live.

Coastal Crimea, Ukraine has a better climate in that it's much drier. But both of them can have cold snaps during winter when temperatures drop below freezing, sometimes significantly.

C+. Temperatures quite good, but too much rain and not enough compensating sun.

I give it a C. I'm not all that impressed with the winters and the summers are acceptable at best. They're only a few degrees warmer on average than here in Vancouver in winter but you'd never know it with the number of palm species they can grow there compared to here.

Fair enough but that's mainly due to their summers being much warmer than here. January in Sochi only average 9.3°C high and February 9.8°C. That's only like a 3°C and 2°C difference in January and February respectively. The record low for Sochi is -13.4°C which is also only a few degrees milder than here.

I give it a C+, the temperatures are tolerable but a bit lower than my ideal, it's extremely cloudy in the Winter and that'd get to me after a few days. Quite a bit of rain as well.

B. It seems funny finding close to my ideal climate in Russia. Summer is perfect with good rain, but winter is a bit cooler and cloudier than I would like. The record low isn't very nice either. Still I could live here. Good vodka and ski resorts would be an added bonus.

The summer temperatures and precipitation look ideal. The winters...I'm not really a fan of in-between winters...either have highs at least down to the high 20s (F) or highs in the 50s-60s(F). Highs in the 30s for winter are the worst though.

So...a B.
