Your definition of summer...spring...winter...fall (snowfall, hot, warm)

What's your definition of the seasons?

Houston, Texas...

Summer: lows in the mid 70sF, highs around 90F
Spring: lows in the low 60sF, highs around 75F
Winter: lows in the 50sF, highs around 65F
Fall: lows in the mid 60sF, highs around 75F

I like a combination of summer and spring. Winters are way too cold.

My ideal definition:
Winter: Cold enough to snow
Spring: Warmer, highs are in the 40s/50s (5-15C) in early Spring but there's always a chance of snowfall; getting into the 60s (high 10s C) during late Spring
Summer: Highs in the low 70s (low 20s C)
Fall: basically a reverse of Spring

The reality of where I live:
Winter: highs are below ~60F/15C (December to February)
Spring: 60s/70s (~20C) in the early spring (March), getting to around 90F/32C during May, although it can easily feel summerish during early Spring.
Summer: Highs in the 90s/mid 30s C all the time (May to mid-late September)
Fall: Highs get out of the 90s/mid 30s C during early Fall (late September-early October) and drop into the 60s/70s (~20C) in late November, although it can easily feel summerish during late Fall. (so basically a reverse of Spring, harhar)

Those are hardly "seasons". Different flavors of summer, maybe (hot summer, mild summer, cool summer).

Mine:
Summer: highs in the low 70's F or higher. Ideally I'd want the highs to be near 80F and lows at about 60F.

Spring and fall: highs in the 50's and 60's. Basically warm to cool days and chilly nights.

Winter: highs below 50F. Ideally I'd want highs at about 45F with lows at or just below freezing, with some snowfall every year.

Winter: Average lows in the teens or lower 20s, with highs in the upper 20s or lower to mid 30s. Lots of snow. Can be colder if it wants to be too, that's just the upper limit of a real winter.

Spring: Warming up now. Average highs in the 50s and lower to mid 60s. Average lows above freezing by early spring, and closer to 40 and over by mid to late spring. A few spring showers here and there, and thunderstorms are most likely to occur during this season. However there will still be more clear and sunny days than not, especially more so as the season progresses.

Summer: Hot and dry. Average highs are from the mid to upper 70s to the lower 90s. Overnight lows are somewhere in the low 60s or upper 50s (very comfortable for sleeping, not hot!). An occasional heat wave will top us out in the mid to upper 90s and perhaps even in the low 100s, but those don't last more than a few days at a time.

Fall: The beginning of fall sees a cool down from summer that starts out gradually at first, but speeds up as the season carries on. The beginning of fall, for example, still averages in the 70s. By mid October we begin to see our last few days with highs in the 60s. By beginning of November even 50 degrees is a struggle to make it to. A windstorm may pass through during this time as well, and perhaps a thunderstorm or two. We then head right back to winter with colder and snowier weather.

Warm season: 65F lows/80F highs
Hot season: 70F lows/85F highs

Highs of 90F low of 75F - 365 days a year
Only differences between one part of the year to the next is the amount of rainfall

Where I currently live in an average year:
Winter: 20F-50F
Spring: 30F-60F
Summer: 45F-80F
Autumn: 30F-60F

For Toronto, I'd imagine most people's perceptions are that winter is generally late November/December to March, or whenever temperatures are dominated by temperatures near and below freezing on average. Spring ranges from the moment when people get excited about highs consistently get above freezing and keep climbing (prone to many "false starts" in March, so 41-60F would be a good range for the feeling of spring) and spring ends (or well, summer starts) when when highs are consistently 20C (68F). Also when people no longer have to worry about feeling too cold if they don't come out wearing or carrying a jacket, so that they can "let their guard down". Summer would start typically around mid- or late May and go to perhaps mid September (how much of the bulk of the May or September months feel summery varies from year to year). Fall would then be Sept-Nov, triggered by the sight of the first leaves turning colour, by being no longer to wear T-shirts and by the first snowfall people are pretty much convinced that it's winter.

People who say winter should be in the 50's or 50 is too cold for winter! Oh, my gosh, what a hoot! Winter 65 degrees and too cold??? Hmmm, maybe haven't experienced a real winter.

I know I'm a 4 season lover and many people aren't, winter is temps in the 20's or 30's or lower. Don't tell me 40's and 50's seem like winter, that's a walk in the park with a very light jacket.

It's all what you're used to. A person living in Yellowknife or Yakutsk would think 20s and 30s are a walk in the park

Very true! Around here high 40's now, sweatshirts and shorts for some people (mostly men in their late 20's early 30's)! They drag the shorts out once it turns 40!

It was damp today, we went to a function at Lambeau and I think almost everyone had sweatshirts, didn't see a single heavy jacket!
