If the precipitation pattern was reversed and the summer lows were increased by 5C this would be such a great climate.

But with that vile dry heat in the summer, and so much cold rain in the winter, it can only be a C.

D. Dry heat is preferable but generally too hot for too long. Monotonous hot, dry and sunny for at least 4 months of the year and the propensity for long heatwaves of late lowers the rating. The cool season is OK though and in some ways feels more winter like than Sydney with plenty of cloud, rain, wind and storms.

South West WA is much better, temps a bit milder overall and a chance of cloud and drizzle in the warmer months. Margaret River has a significantly lower annual average temperature than Sydney, despite sharing the same latitude- it earns a B+.

I think we all know the reason for the unusually high number of "F" grades. Methinks the Fail Whale King is using plenty of his troll accounts on this one...

As for myself, I'm a cool climate lover- hence my low grade. But definitely not an F climate- I reserve that grade for places with interminable heat and humidity such as Singapore, Bangkok or Chennai. Most of my grades are middling- to get an A from me, plenty of winter snow or, alternatively, a little snow with unusually mild summers- is required.

Boring climate. D. (Winter rains save it from an F).

Fair enough. But Perth goes a long way towards meeting my ideal Mediterranean criteria (quasi-desert is even better), though a drier winter would be good. I never get sick of sunshine.

Ditto.
Probably a A climate, if it was like that.

Summers are too long, sunny and dry, the rest of the year is comfortable with reasonable rainfall but not enough seasonal variation for my liking.

B-/C+
