Grade: 33.4% / F

The dry season turns an already bad climate into a real stinker.

Oh? Out of curiosity, if San Jose is F, how would you rate:

Death Valley

Amundsen Scott Station, Antarctica

Death Valley: 3.4% / Z
Amundsen Scott: -9.9% / Z-

Climates can only get a sub-zero rating if they have less than 1 inch of precipitation per year. Nevertheless, both of those climates are unliveably awful.

D-

Too warm year round and weather patterns are too stable. The dry summer is awful and the browned over vegetation looks ugly.

I know. Long years have instilled in me a serious loathing of Mediterranean climates, but I have no idea where all these "F" ratings are coming from.

List of F climates:
  • Polar Icecap
  • Tropical Rainforest
  • Tropical Desert
  • Tropical Anything
  • Summit of Mt. Everest
Whatever else a person might say about them, Mediterranean climates are pretty mild.

I prefer https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_...fornia#Climate but its not bad, a B-/C+ or so. Too dry though for sure.

I use a "Z" rating for climates like those. F is bad, Z is unliveable.

I always really liked this climate mix. I would prefer a bit more rain but rate it an A-.
