I think I'm slowly turning into Deneb and ColdCanadian might need a spacesuit for this winter. I've already mentioned before I lost 60 pounds since last year (BMI of 32 now whereas I was 41 last year). I'm on track to achieve a conservative estimate of 170 pounds by Fall, and I'm already starting to feel the cold. I can't stand it when the thermostat in my house is under 77 degrees, I start to feel cold. I went out at night last night at 9 PM when the temp was around 71°F/22°C, I had to turn the heater on in my car! 85°F temps are nothing to me now, I hardly break a sweat. I no longer feel uncomfortable sleeping in my 86°F bedroom with only a fan to cool me. I think I'm turning into Deneb/CC (or my body now decided to turn Spanish on me after 5+ years)!
I guess you were always a warmth person, just it was hidden by all that fat. I'm slightly overweight, but really? You would have to be very heat tolerant to sleep in those temps! 86F is way too hot to sleep comfortably. I set the heat in my apartment to 55F in winter and I'm comfy. Just occasionally need to wear a sweater if I get a little cold. I'm very cold tolerant. I do the Polar Bear Plunges. Once a few years ago I jumped into an icy lake. I warmed up by myself, no warm drinks.
55°F is a bit much, but sleeping at 86°F is noticeably irritating for almost everyone. 80°F is about my limit, acclimization helps (you get used to the warmer temperatures).
My BMI used to be 19, I was a bit more cold intolerant back then. I was shivering very slightly earlier sitting inside a 71°F room. I thought it was just me...

As for me, I usually put the heat on in my car most of the summer here at least for a few minutes to warm the car up. I am about 5'8" and weigh about 190-200 lbs which isn't exactly skinny but the heat doesn't seem to bother me. I think one of
the main reasons is I enjoy sweating because it makes me feel refreshed. My body constantly sweating out toxins
You are so lucky you are American and have the option of living in tropical locations like Puerto Rico, Florida and Hawaii without immigration Unfortunately for me, I was born on the wrong side of the 49th parallel
I was stranded on the wrong side of a flooded river for few days. Nothing to eat after 48 hours, saw a noticeable decrease in cold tolerance.
Did you go all Bear Grylls there for those 48 hours and construct make shift shelters and what not?
