DC for me. Melbourne's climate screws me over by denying me snow. Also DC's summers are warmer overall.

This is EXACTLY what happens. It is usually a plethora of low-mid 20's days broken up by 1-3 day hot spells before the next fail at life coldfront with its week-long infestation of southerlies

Slight edge to DC. Melbourne's winters are more appealing than D.C.'s, but that alone isn't enough to offset D.C.'s summer advantage over Melbourne.
