Hey, I agree with Kaul in the fact that feeling hot and sweaty all the time its unbearable, intolerable, horrid, nasty, etc . 95 F is a temperature i never enjoy being in, it just makes your life miserable.
its a matter of personal taste, i guess.
Of this 2 climates, i preffer none, they are both horrible. However, i think that Austin its not as HORRID as some other climates i ve seen in this thread, much hotter ALL YEAR. Austin still has winter, and very low colds. Despite the summer, the rest of the year weather is not that bad. There are much better examples of horrid hot weather.
Winnipeg its too cold, tooo cold for my liking all year long. So i preffer Austin between this two.
However if you make me choose between Winnipeg and a REAL all year round hot weather i will chose Winnipeg withouth a doubt!!!
Yep sometimes it is a matter of "which one is the lesser of two evils" with these climate battles. You're right it is simply personal taste/preference from one's own experiences. That's all it's about. That's what makes the world interesting.
I don't believe anyone would choose to live in Baghdad over Winnipeg
I would.
Honestly, if my skin isn't stinging from Baghdad heat then I'm happy.
An evening temperature of 105 F (41 C) is cool enough there is no stinging from heat.
My skin can turn purple and sting from cold at 55 F!!!
Winnipeg's annual average high is something like 48 F, (9 C)
so that would basically guarantee my skin will sting sting midday, 7-8 months a year! Never mind nighttime when it cools down even more!
Even with thick, "Thinsulate" gloves my fingers can sting at 27 F. (-3 C)
Can I "...just dress for a Winnipeg winter?..."
I had a hard time dressing for Toronto in late-November!
Okay CC, breathe in, breathe out... Ah yes, I'm in Australia; I feel all better now.
I don't understand why some people would be willing to die in a volcano rather than to try adapting to living in cold climates.
I meant like living beside one,
say like a scientific laboratory where people might go to elaborate means to stay cool.
I didn't mean to off myself in molten lava.
I could deal with a constant temperature of 110-145 F underground
better than I could cope with life on the Canadian Prairies.
Try adapting to a cold climate?
I lived in one nearly of my entire life.
I tried very hard to adapt, I was outside in it almost daily... Actually, read some old City-Data posts of mine for proof that I was out battling the cold! You're Texan!... Adapt to heat?
Why doesn't 85 F feel like gentle warmth to you as it does me?
Why can't YOU adapt to where a dry 94 F and bright sun still isn't hot enough to make you feel thirsty too quickly, like me?
Why can't you wear a sweater and long pants in comfort at 79 F, like me?
You have some 'splainin' to do.
