Officially, Amarillo had 50 days where the temperature reached 100 or higher in 2011. Not to mention, we saw only 7" of precipitation for the entire year.

I've been through Amarillo several times, but not recently-always enjoyed my stays there. At least Amarillo isn't the sweatbox that much of east Texas is.

Still, 50 days of 100 plus temps...

Uff-da!

It's approaching 70 degrees today in Amarillo! Talk about crazy weather. And, the wind is gusting close to 60 mph! So far, not much dust though. Even so, it's better than 15 degrees and snow.

Gotta love it.

Thanks for the updated stats guys. Amazing stuff.

yeah that ridge building there now will bring some pretty warm temps for winter.

It's crazy because heat and drought in summer kills crops and now a snowless winter everywhere is hurting farms because they depend on the snowpack to protect the soil.

Much cooler today in Amarillo. Currently 30 F with a forecasted high of 40 F. But the rest of the week is expected to be in the 60s.

It's not. Amarillo is blessed with low humidity. Try 100 in another part of the country, and it really is hellish.
