Parts of coastal Oregon are similar here temperature wise at least, but they are much wetter...

Whilst Sydney is way too southern on that map as it isn't as humid as those cities down there, I wouldn't put it next to San Diego, cos it's semi-arid/Mediterranean. The highest average temperature is around 24C there. Sydney averages around 26C in summers and it has a bigger temperature range between summer and winter, unlike San Diego.

I'd put Sydney next to San Antonio, as they have a similar rainfall pattern. Whilst San Antonio is much warmer in the summers, the winter temps are almost identical to Sydney's (although it doesn't snow in Sydney). The humidity and dryness are also similar - both Sydney and San Antonio may get dry heat from the desert and humid hot days, depending on the prevailing wind.

Sydney is still distinctively unique and even San Antonio isn't that similar, but it's still more like the areas around that city than San Diego's and its surrounds (Mediterranean).

Madrid would fit around Medford, southern Oregon, or in any place near to Medford who are slightly cooler in summer :

Northern Sweden:
Bethel, Alaska - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Kiruna Climate and Weather Averages, Sweden

Central Sweden:
Anchorage, Alaska - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Östersund - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Southern sweden:

Whistler, British Columbia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The coastal area of PNW 50N+ up to the southernmost part of central alaska 60-61N is very similar to sweden climate-wise.

Really? What place in Sweden matches Sandspit or Port Hardy?

For where I live in New Zealand, there isn't a match. I think Eureka, California is about as close as it gets, but I wouldn't call them similar climates.

For NZ as a whole, there are no comparable climates in North America.

The most similar cities to Rimini are Ocean City, MD and Williamsburg, VA (except for precipitations, sunshine and hardiness zone of course). Also, find the differences :

go further inland (Smithers or Prince George) and it's good match for Moscow as I said on the previous page. Go to the coast (100 km or so to Prince Rupert) and it's a good match for Bergen, Norway. Skagway, Alaska or Haines might be similar to Finland though with some cooler and cloudier summers:
