C+. Cold winters but a decent warm season with abundant sunshine. Shame about the winters.

C. Too hot in the summer, too sunny, kind of a wimpy winter and I want no more of tornadoes and severe thunder storms.

D+. Tornado alley in the fall, little to no snow in the winter, and hot as hell in the summer. Yuck!

After rating Vostok, I'm going to be generous and give this a C.

“In 2011, the city had both the hottest day in 30 years (111 °F (44 °C) on July 10) and the coldest day in 30 years as well (−17 °F (−27 °C) on February 10), exactly 5 months apart, further proving the wide range of temperature extremes in the city.”

Also, Wichita in March has an all time record high temperature of 92 degrees and an all time low temperature of -3 degrees below zero.
Nearby Dodge City for March has an all time record high of 98 degrees and an all time low temperature of -15 degrees below zero.

During February 2011, Wichita Kansas went from heavy snow blizzard/cloudy/windy and -17F below zero(with windchill around -25 to -35F below zero) to temperatures in the 70sF and sunny just 5 to 7 days later.

Overall, I will give Wichita Kansas weather a B/B-.
What helps the grade is that I like the annual sunshine hours+annual precipitation combination at 2,924 sunshine hours/30 inches of annual precipitation.
I also like that winter alternates between mild weather, cold weather, and sometimes even warm/hot weather.
Temperatures from April to October are generally good but that record highs are a little bit too hot during mid summer.

C. I like the winters, though they could be a little wetter. But summers are hell. So I give Wichita the same rate as my hometown of Buenos Aires, even though Wichita has the big plus of cold winters with snow...
Once, when I was a child, I saw a video on TV about a big tornado over there, and then I found Wichita on the map. At that time I could have never imagined that it snowed in winter! I thought it was snowless due to the latitude... but at that time I had no real idea of climate.

Minus the pleasant fall weather (October), Wichita is wayyyy to extreme in temps for my liking. Summers can be brutally hot, winters can have an icy chill. Springs are notorious for their severe weather. Rain can range from scant to flooding. There is alot of clashing that occurs here in the weather, due to the Gulf and the high plains and Rockies.

IF you like variability in the weather, Wichita is for you. For me, I would give it a D minus minus.

Ian

Whenever I look at Wichita's weather stats I always think the weather there must be short-circiting.

I live in Kansas too. I think the weather is OK, especially there's plenty of sunshine. I wish there could be more rain and snow though.
