I lived in Cashmere and on Bowenvale Ave. There were some impressive warm pockets in the valleys around there. I regret not recording temp differences in some of those spots. I liked the fact that (at times) a 40 minute walk could see one in conditions that felt alpine. Views of the Alps, no smog, and lighter frosts just make that area even better, also blasting down Huntsbury Spur on my mountain bike.

Both years I was in Chch, we had snow settle where we were, but neither year is recorded as having snow for Chch. It must apply to the CBD only.

Well I don't know about New Zealand, but spring is typically a changeable season with wide temperature swings. Here in early April, highs could be near freezing with snow and ice, or it could be sunny and 90 F. Much more bipolar than what you probably deal with in Christchurch.

In SE Pa the trees have been keeping their green now because the nights have failed to fall into the 30s and low 40s. We had a few nights of 40s this weekend but now its moderating back up into the upper 70s for the rest of the week. Some maples had just started turning and then went on hold. Its been rainy and cool and then warm, but not especially so.

New York City recently had up to 14 cloudy days in a row (yes I counted).

I think this cloudy days in a row streak will finally end by tomorrow for the Northeastern USA. Weather forecasts show it might even be sunny and without a cloud in the sky for the next 6 days in a row after this exceptionally long cloudy days in a row streak.

Summer like weather might even come back in 5 days so that will make this the second mini Autumn and second mini summer since Mid September. Three weeks ago, there was Autumn like weather for about 5 to 7 days but then the 10 days after that had a return to summer weather. However, if summer comes back this time it seems like it would only return for like 3 days.

Yea, this is a nasty streak. Tomorrow there will be sunshine...Not a typical September at all. Likely England was sunnier than us last month. But we were still warmer even with their heat wave.

Frost coming tomorrow, then "Indian summer".

I didn't care for the warm and muggy conditions that prevailed for over a week and would have traded in the clouds for cooler weather, but the last few days were great. Wish it could remain cloudy, cool, and dry, but I'll settle for sunny and dry since we it's been so wet.

Last spring also had a long stretch of cloudy weather.

Looks like our weather will be reversing. After a stretch of cool, cloudy, rainy weather, it may reach the low 80s this weekend.

Quite warm in the upper midwest. Currently a toasty 88 F and 82 F in Fargo and Minneapolis, respectively. Highs are 20-30 F above average.
