Mammoth Mountain, CA averages 5.2 inches of snow in October. They have recieved over a foot of snow today. Last year was a record breaking year with 668 inches of snow and in October 2010 they had gotten just 10 inches of snow.

The thread title is a mistake... Its not "record" snow yet... Maybe Early record snow but

Biggest October snowfalls were:
23” in October 1992.
25” in October 1996.
38” in October 2000.
85” in October 2004.
34” October 2009

Perhaps for the date in october. We had several record breakig dates in september and october for cold.If we get snow this year in my area of Texas that wil be three years in a roll. Unheard of from reports of records.Average is once every ten years.

Years its snowed more than 10" in October on Mammoth Mountain in CA since 1969. (only 7 times)
85” in October 2004
38” in October 2000
34” October 2009
25” in October 1996
23” in October 1992
16" in October 1989
*16" in October 2011
*-Still have 25 days in the month

Was defiantly an insane season, some incredible photos which I have stored on my other computer in which I will upload tomorrow of that record snow from various message boards.
