Give me Darwin over Winnipeg's 8 month winters any day.

What is it with people and over-exaggerating!? Winnipeg has nowhere near 8 months of winter. Whereas Darwin has 12 months of hell.

Of the people I know who have been to Darwin during the "dry", none of them thought it hell - opinions ranged from "marvellous winter break" to "very nice, if a bit hot at times". I think you're exaggerating!

Winnipeg can see that every month except Jun-Aug.

"Tolerable" for me begins when daytime highs exceed 60 F; scarce in most of Canada 6-8 months a year.

I already only enjoy Toronto reliably from mid-late May to mid-September.
Winnipeg, I'd take another 1-2 months away for comfort.
Winnipeg has never recorded a temperature below -7.2C in September, so June - September. And even the record low in May is -11C so you're unlikely to find -8C after April and before October.

Any month averaging a high above 30C is hell to me.

But Winnipeg has 5 months of winter at best.

Okay, nearly...

-8 C was just an example of a temperature that I hate.
I don't feel much better knowing their record is only -7.2 C.

This climate seems very underrated in my opinion. I gave it an A. Awesome thunderstorms!
