It is, and that's not even on the summit. The summit is approximately 10 degrees colder than this area at any given time per my source. I'll have to find the site again to link to it.

this has mauna kea summit. probably similar to mauna loa's summit.

Helps to demonstrate the wonderful range of climates on the Big Island. Driving a car from Kona to Hilo via the mid-altitude desert, then back via the northern areas was very interesting.
