Considering weather alone as a factor, where would you want to retire later on in life.

My ideal location would be Laramie, WY. Fantastic winters and dry summers, just the way I like it .

I side with the OP in liking Wyoming to escape to. Maybe sometime sooner than retirement, though. Got to love the mountains, open spaces, small towns, and rugged/rustic people compared to what the East Coast has to offer. As for climate, Jackson looks nice:
