I also prefer Harbin's summer, therefore my vote goes to Harbin even if winters look quite miserable there. Medicine Hat has too cool nights in summer and it's way too dry for me.
I dislike reviving old threads, but given that both of these are A climates with the preferred precip distribution, it's an interesting battle. Vote still goes to HRB due to the more persistent snow cover, sunnier winters, and warmer May thru Sept lows, giving more of that "warm summer night" feel which I am accustomed to.
Medicine Hat wins hands down for me. I like the drier, cooler, less humid summers with lower nightly lows and higher diurnal ranges. Medicine Hat's winters aren't as brutally cold on average and yet still get more snow than Harbin, or at least I'm guessing they do as no snowfall stats are given for Harbin. Harbin's winters are way too dry, and the summers are too wet and humid.
