I need a certain level of warmth,
else I need to plan activities like heavy excersize
or I will be grumpy and irritable.

I'm happy there's a 24 hr gym nearby, else I wouldn't want to stay here to long.
So it made me wonder what kind of climate is warm enough I wouldn't feel I NEED a gym membership.

Gauging my reactions and moods to climate stats, I came up with this criteria:

- If it is frequently below 20 C/68 F when I'm awake, I definitely want to hit the gym regularly (to compensate )
- Winter I'm on the fence about, but any non-winter month would qualify
- this can be skewed a bit to ignore the earliest part of morning and say 1 hr after sunset and I'd still be nonchalant

*So City-Data weather fan members
What do you consider climates where many hours are frequently below 20 C/68 F?*

- Still warm or subtropical?
- Ordinary temperate weather patterns?
- Just cool enough to be liveable?

I thought it might interest or amuse some of our members to know that's what makes me tick, especially our cold-loving members.

In terms of daytime weather, I'd call anything below 20C but above 12C cool but not unpleasant. I'll be wearing a jacket for sure, and a warm **** underneath, but not a coat. The heating is on indoors. However, I don't like rain much at those temperatures, especially if heavy. I chill in damp quite quickly.

However, I would consider dayime temperatures around 30C or above with nightly minimums in that range still very summery. Buildings, especially temperate climate buildings, tend to retain their heat in the night, so 30C days will probably lead to unaided room-temps around 22-26C, quite comfortable.

I consider climates subtropical if they have 1 or more months with a 24 hour average of 22 C (72 F) or greater and no month with a 24 hour average below freezing. Climates that are above 20 C / 68 F at all times are VERY tropical.

Daytime temperatures of -15 - -5 C (5 - 23 F) are ideal for me in the dead of winter, 10 - 25 C (50 - 77 F) in spring and fall, and 23 - 33 C (74 - 91 F) in summer.
