Im looking forward to earlier sunsets here too (due to equation of time) and the evenings are darker, since October-november = more rain + t-storm
November averages 300mm of rain here according to wikipedia
I'm the same, I don't mind it when it's dark at 4 or 5 pm and really gloomy most of the time, but I don't like the period between about early September and about 21st October when we lose daylight quite quickly and from one week to the next you notice the longer shadows, weaker sun etc. The weather at that time of year seems fairly featureless as well: too early for autumn colours, usually too early for decent gales or fog, too early to wear a coat, yet it's usually not properly warm either. I still associate that time of year with "Back to school" as well, even though I'm nearly 30!
Daylight is disappearing at a furious rate now, more than five minutes a day. An hour of daylight every eleven days or so. Soon enough I'll be waking up in the dark... until March.
Sunrise in Pekanbaru is 6:11. Fairbanks Alaska is already later.
