Yeah, our 6:03 sunset tonight should really be 5:03. Arizona should be UTC -8 instead of UTC -7

Sunset is near enough 5pm here and i'm not too far off the meridian for my timezone so, yes that makes sense.

AZ could easily follow SoCal timezone. Their current timezone is like year-round DST California

Exactly, if we were in UTC -8 with UTC -7 summer time, we would be unchanged from March to October, and would have a 6:28am Sunrise and 4:24pm Sunset on Dec 21st, no biggie

I've noticed that proposals to dump DST have started to gain momentum in the United States.. I hope that these proposals are put in place so that European countries can be enticed into removing DST aswell.

Well my sunrise is after 5am in summer so 4am wouldn't be too bad for my latitude.

Banyuwangi at 8S has 4:50 sunrise and visible dawn light before 4 at ijen crater (the highlands)
