Those are some significant wind gusts, and your humidity levels are great . There's going to be some cooler (but still I'd say warm) weather after frontal passage where you are followed by some showers. I'd much rather have snow this time of year. The Weather Channel currently has your sustained winds at 29 mph with gusts to 35. If I were there I'd be rooting for 40.

Are strong winds a rare occurrence in the US, away from the obvious tornadoes and hurricanes? 50mph gusts are pretty common here, and occur most months outside summer - and we had 77mph in January this year.

Well, they are here in Denver. Back in my hometown of South Texas, winds usually blew 10-15mph. It was considered "windy" when sustained winds were 30-45mph. Of course I don't recall gusts being too much higher than the sustained winds, unless you got a really bad thunderstorm or hurricane.

Here in Denver however, the wind is usually less than 10mph. With it being "windy" if it hits over 20mph. However, I've seen wind gusts higher here, even if it's in bursts that I wouldn't have seen too much in South Texas.

Low of 46 F tonight. 72 F and cloudy tomorrow. The weather lately has been close to what to my ideal summer would be.
