I keep my car at about 80 just to keep the air circulating. I try not to roll down my windows because it's a new car and I don't want to lose that new smell. If I keep it any cooler there will be an adjustment period when I get home.
I actually unwillingly went an entire year without AC in a car already. It was my freshman year in college and the AC in my two-door hatchback didn't work. Too broke to fix it I let it ride. I would show up to work and school with the back of my pants wet from sweating because of all of the loooong stop lights I had to deal with. To make matters worse the driver-side window did not roll down for a large chunk of that summer.

28C and sunny at 12.50pm with a dew point of just under 20C (our highest for some years). Ugh. A day of this makes me appreciate the fact we don't get this horrible sticky nonsense too often.

I had my car A/C serviced two weeks ago and I had to bring it into another shop yesterday. More service is likely going to be necessary. I hope I'm not throwing money in a rat hole. I went two summers without A/C in my car. Don't wish to go through that again.

I went two summers without AC as well in South Texas. After the second one, I had enough and traded it in to get a new car, It was a five year plan and I had a year to go. But then I only used my car to get me to places and had to endure the heat for bits of time. Now my job has me driving around sometimes for 6 hours going to different places like a fedex truck making deliveries and I wouldn't be able to do a summer without AC in this new job, especially since I have to dress in a suit sans the coat.

Far worse to live without AC in Texas than New Jersey, but the suffering is still high here in July and August (June and September to a lesser extent). Today it worked so my one hour drive home was enjoyable, but I fear it may only be temporary if it's leaking freon. I have to drive everywhere so it's almost a necessity. I say that because one's shirt and pants can get soaked and foul smelling from sweat. Then there's the sheer unpleasantness of sitting in a hot car.
