Come on up North to the Dakotas and enjoy ice Fishing, snow mobiling and ice skating until April or even May/June.

Scattered clouds.

Not spring like at all not with that snow lying there.

Typically all the ice will be melted by mid May. But it is not unknown for there to still be ice on some lakes until mid-June.

I first came to North Dakota in May of 2008. Came up from Austin, Texas. What a shock, it was near 90F when I left Austin.. Got up here and there was snow on the ground and some of the lakes still had ice on them until Early June.

But how is it possible to have ice in June with an average high of 25c? I don't get that?

Temperature data for Marion, ND. Somehow I don't believe that "come here to ski in May" talk. Winters are cold but like the rest of lower 48 spring is fast and summer is long and hot.

First I did not say that is for every year. That is the over all average some years are much higher some are much lower.

What I said if you go back to the post:

For the month of June the extremes are a high of 112 degrees F (45C) in 2002 and a low of 18 Degrees F (-8 C) in 1969

With a high of 25c and with all that sunshine i'd say its still impossible to see ice on lakes unless you are up really high.

The temperatures do not deviate that much and lets be honest you'd need ice days or 2/3c to sustain ice. So I remain unconvinced.

I mean this is march and there was an inch of ice on the lake up above and now at 3c the ice is almost all gone.
