The second picture is NOT royal palms, I think they are sabal palms which survive in colder subtropical climate such as Northern FL or Southern Goergia.
Those royal palms are in Corpus, 100+ miles to the north. The palms in the second picture are Washingtonia palms, like you see in California.

Here are some photos of royals in Brownsville

Giants on South Padre Island

Something for scale (two feather palms in the center)

If you take a look at real estate listings on South Padre Island, young royal and foxtail palms are everywhere. Going to look impressive in a few years. Royal Palms are also field grown (for commercial use), so that should tell you that they are hardy there.

I don't have pictures to point out but I would like to know the type of palms (describe below) I asked the locals in Orlando and they didn't know.

OK, at entrance of Premium Outlet Mall, they are tall, handsome looking bulky head (not as small and ugly as sabal palms), the leaves are more "sturdy" than royal palms but look different than royal palms. They are also found in California.

What are they ?

Date Palms (Phoenix spp.)? Very common at malls in Houston too.

Can you get a picture off the internet?

The ones I saw were more handsome than these, these looks very similar but the heads are not as handsome as the ones in Orlando.

Are these the only type ?

Try to post picture ...

OK, I was referring the one at the middle of your picture (the short young palm, about 10 foot tall), is it date palm ? The ones I saw in Orlando are tall and very handsome ...

Look at the leaves: They are sturdy and longer (not sticking up as the picture you just posted), longer leaves make it look more beautiful/handsome ...

You mean the one between the coconut palms? Canary Island Date Palm (Phoenix canariensis). Quite cold hardy, survived upper single digits to low teens during the 1989 freeze in Houston.

I think Royal Palms (aka Cuban Royal Palms) in a way are actually more beautiful than coconut palms. I love the green shiny area just below the crown. Here are some Royal Palms around Palm Beach/FTL

Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood, FL

Also, here are some Canary Island Date Palms I took in St. Augustine, FL:

I was referring to the one between the 2 damaged coconut palms, about 10 foot tall, bulky head, sturdy long leaves (leaves not sticking up).

Looking at more pictures Wavehunter just posted, now I recall they have the "pine apple" look too, so it might be Canary Island Date Palms.

No doubt about it, royal palms are the most beautiful in my opinion (Fort Myers has lots of beautiful royals palms everywhere).
