Forecast for sunday says temps are gonna reach 34, monday 35 and tuesday 36!!!! (and those awful temps continue at least until friday) check it out:

im really praying for us not to reach 40 heat index again and NOT to have another couple of nights above 30 celsius, but looking at that forecast, it seems unlikely!!!!!!!!!: crying::cr ying:

You really need to come to Sydney this summer - we have not hit 30C yet! Am not too bothered as we've had some nice days this month, just haven't had any extreme days.

Same here. The highest so far this summer here has been 27 C. In this respect, this has been one of the coolest summers on record.

After weeks of pleasantly warm, humid weather, a cold front will be visiting here tomorrow. Snow down to 1400m/4200ft for here, and down to 700m/2100ft down south. Invercargill has a temp range of 6-11C/44-52F tomorrow.

I'm certainly noticing the lower humidity at present. It's 18C/64F now (8.05pm) and feels rather chilly with humidity at only 42%.

It seems funny, but after all we have been complaining (Sophie and me) about the heat here, especially the high minimums, so far the average low (as calculated so far, of course), is exactly the average: 20.4 C. And the high is above but only 1.4 C above.

The January averages are 20.4 C / 30.4 C
And so far this January: 20.4 C / 31.8 C

Let's hope there are more cool air snaps, but I don't count on that.

A bit of fresh snow on the tops this morning. It starts at about 1600m/5000ft.

A glimpse of winter, in the middle of summer.

Wow that's very cool for summer. Haven't they had a fair amount of warm days? I imagine 40s and 50s will feel very chilly.

That's now been revised to 16C/9C, back to 21C max in a couple of days. Long-range however has more normal summer conditions over the country, with highs further north and showery westerlies in the far south.

They had exceptionally low rainfall there in December and near-record sunshine.

Default Weird Weather

At least you are getting rain. In Texas (I'm in Amarillo), we had the driest year on record. Amarillo received only 7" (sorry, I don't know metrics ) for all of 2011.

Our winter has been rather uneventful as well. Couple of snows in the Panhandle, just a few inches. Coldest temperature was around 8 degrees. But, this week is going to be very mild. We are expecting temps in the mid to upper 60's for most of this week!

Please send some of your Australian rain to Texas!
