We've done Washington, now let's have a battle in Alaska! Here are the choices:

Juneau, Alaska - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Anchorage, Alaska - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fairbanks, Alaska - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Barrow, Alaska - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I vote for Juneau out of a bunch of terrible options. It has the mildest winters of the bunch...

I voted Fairbanks. Sure it has a very cold winter (not that I'm complaining!), but also has a nice, warm summer. And summer precipitation may be more than I like, but it's still not that much. Could be worse. Just look at Juneau. YIKES!

Juneau -- definitely not at all close to a climate I'd enjoy, but I'd still pick it for its mild winter and shorter time below freezing.

Fairbanks' warmer summer isn't enough to compensate for coldness and length of time below freezing.

I chose Fairbanks. It has less than half precipitation days of Juneau. Precipitation for me is worse than the cold. Also Fairbanks has something resembling a summer. I'd also guess that it is the sunniest city of the 4.

A difficult one. Juneau is furthest south and at least has winter days that arent in 24 darkness

Fairbanks has best summers, but the winters are savage and dark
Anchorage still exhibits decent sunshine levels, particularly in summer

Couldnt deal with the darkness during winter of Barrow or Fairbanks, so i'll probably go for Anchorage.

Though ideally it would be summer in fairbanks, winter in Juneau, latitude of Juneau and sunshine levels of Anchorage.

I like Fairbanks. Acceptable summer and good winter. The stretches of -30 F aren't fun, but overall winter is preferable to Anchorage b/c there are significantly fewer days above freezing.

Anchorage is okay. Not much of a summer and too many meltdowns during winter (chinooks).

Barrow and Juneau are both awful.

Anchorage. Despite frigid winters and same summer temps as Juneau it ranked above thanks to its better sunshine values. Summers seem more pleasant there than in Juneau. Barrow would be a nice place to spend a summer compared to the other three, but its winters are just too brutal.

Let's see if someone eventually votes for Barrow.

The Fairbanks climate section says the aurora borealis is a meteorological phenomenon.

I voted for Anchorage but I think I'll change my vote to Fairbanks, even though it gets less snowfall.
