Buenos Aires
Rome
Canberra
Chengdu

Canberra and Chengdu were a toss up but Chengdu is just too cloudy even for me. Canberra has almost 3 times the sunshine!

wierd, looking at the stats of Buenos Aires it says that it rains 101 days a year, wich seems like a lot, but also BA haves 2558 hours of sunshine, wich is quite a lot too (well, at least me, that i live here, Buenos Aires seems like a sunny city. And its normal to have endless sunny days like we had in november. I also see it as a city where it rains, wich i like), so I guess this means a lot of days with sun/rain at the same time do happen? (thinking about it, this is true) what do u weather expert think? is this normal?

I think of other cities with "rainy" reputation, such as Vancouver, that have way way less sunshine hours. But BA is rainy and sunny at the sime time (?¿).

1) Canberra
2) Rome
3) Chengdu
4) Buenos Aires

Quite difficult choosing my rankings. I had trouble deciding between Canberra and Rome, but figured I would probably be more comfortable in Canberra, especially with the cooler summer lows.

Chendu's summers are unpleasant, but the winters aren't bad and the cloudiness is a plus.

Maybe we should look at the extreme temperatures too, not just the averages. From the extremes we can estimate the variance.

List of extreme temperatures (Celsius)
Rome: -8.2 40.1
Chengdu: -5.9 40
Buenos Aires: -5.4 43.3
Canberra: -10 42.2

Would probably choose Buenos Aires marginally over Rome and Canberra.
Buenos Aires does not look as hot as some of the posters here suggest, and yearly means reflect this. Where I work in Singleton in the Hunter Valley of NSW is considerably hotter than this, though so far not this summer.
Rome has a moderate Mediterranean climate, but still quite continental.
Canberra is actually a hidden gem for climates, much-maligned here in Australia for climate and other reasons, but is actually quite temperate.
Chengdu has very little going for it at all, apart from some nice transition months.

Buenos Aires

BA is a bit too hot in summer compared to its winters (I'd prefer hot summer with warm winters, or mild winters with warm/mild summers), but at least it isn't continental.

I ruled out Roma and Chengdu because they have a dry season, so it was up to BA and Canberra. Canberra lost because it's too chilly at night for too much of the year and the air/humidity, despite being very inoffensive and probably agreeable to most people, isn't what's best for me.

Canberra for being much less humid in the summer and being the sunniest. Rome isn't that far behind though.

Same exact rating.

I chose Canberra because it was relatively cool with a good amount of rain. Rome and Buenos were too warm all year round. Also, Chengdu had that nasty monsoon season.

Canberra for being more dry and seasonal but not in a bad way. I love the cool nights after the warm days there... It's also cooler/more comfortable than the others. Rome isn't bad but I'll take Canberra before it. Then the other two are a bit down the ladder...
