Early spring: average high 67F-78F. Can be variable, especially in March.
Late spring: average high 78F-88F. Less variability. Starts to feel like summer during May.

spring begin/end
I know that the vernal equinox and summer solstice are the official start and end points for the spring season, but I have my own arbitrary markers, which I use to compare springs in various cities.
For me, spring begins in a city/town on the date that the average daily high temperature first hits 59 F (15 C). And spring ends (and summer begins) in said city/town when the average daily high temperature first hits 77 F (25 C).
If the city/town never has daily high temperatures averaging 59 F, such as Barrow, AK, it has no spring in my book. And, if a certain city/town never has daily high temperatures averaging 77 F (25 C) or higher, it has no summer (and that would be my kind of city; e.g, Eureka, CA).
Some other examples of summer-less cities:
Liverpool, England
Dublin, Ireland
Oslo, Norway

Sounds like a stupid system - ever heard of the concept of cold, cool, warm or hot summers?
What would you call the period between spring and autumn, where the temperature plateaus for three months? -springs don't maintain static temperatures for 2-3 months, they're transitional.
A system such as yours, just serves to lessen understanding of climates.

For my dream climate - early Spring, temperatures in the high 60s, late Spring temperatures in the high 70s

Hardly any difference here: Case in point: Our May is our coldest month of the year so far . Either early spring or late spring can have highs ranging from 60s to 90s and lows ranging from upper 30s to 60s here.
