In the city of Azul, in the center of Buenos Aires Province, there was a downpour of 250 mm of rain in just 24 hours, whereas the normal for the whole of May in that location is 41 mm.

Some sources say the downpour was 250 mm in 1 hour, but I don't trust that. So far, the total precip for May is nearly 400 mm, 10 times the average, and the month hasn't finished yet! This comes after a severe drought the area suffered last summer (esp January).

Needless to say that this downpour caused the worst floods in 30 years in the area.

PS: I couldn't find sources in English to post here. They are mainly in Spanish.

Winter has well and truly arrived here. Minimums over the last three nights: -4, -2, -3 C.

But highs are still around 13-14 C with abundant sunshine (although the gloomy start to the month could make us end up below average) and only 8 mm rain MTD.

I will be very happy if winter continues like this.

Looks as though highs will be in the upper teens for the remainder of the week with possible strong NW winds tomorrow.

If these eventuates there could some serious storm activity in Bass Strait. Will be interesting reading wind gust observations from Wilson's Promontory and islands out in the strait. I expect gusts in the range of 150-200km/h. Last year a 170km/h gust was recorded at a weather station in Bass Straight during a similar setup. Here it is, a winter month out in Bass Strait http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/dwo/20...8.201107.shtml

Incidentally, several days of sunshine are predicted afterwards with the high pressure stalling over Vic

another day exactly like the last 5 days: foggy/cloudy/humid/cool/kinda rainy.

Im briefly experiecing how would it be living in a super-cloudy kinda winter/autumn and, tbh, i dont think i would like it if we had a super cloudy winter. I mean, im liking it now cause i know it will be over soon, but looking at this grayness day after day is depressing!.

Thats why i dont like places in where pattern is "super sunny summer/super cloudy winter" GOD NO! Thankfully, Buenos Aires sunshine is even all year and even June (one of the coldest months) is the driest month of the year. Abundant sunshine is expected in all months, even winter months, so yay

But for now....we are London here

High today was 3 C lower than forecast and at 8 PM we are already more than 1 C below the forecast overnight low. Typical.

5.6C-22.0C today, sunny once again.

Looking at similar conditions tomorrow, rapidly cooling with the clear skies and light winds, at 7:34pm it's 8.2C at Perth Airport.

BOM issued there seasonal forecast for winter yesterday, they expect only a 30% chance of exceeding median rainfall this winter unfortunately.
