Having recently ( 4 months) moved from central Minnesota to northern Arkansas, I was amazed at the difference in daylight hours.

For today, sunrise difference is 17 minutes earlier in Minnesota and sunset is 43 minutes later = exactly one hour more daylight.

The span will even widen as we approach the summer equinox.

I'm not complaining because the daylight will be longer in December in Arkansas.

Wondering if any other " northeners" noticed the daylight difference when moving south.

I noticed it when I moved from Florida to Alaska. I really don't like the darkness in the winter, but it's only a couple of months that are crummy, really. The endless light in the summer easily makes up for it, although it can be disorienting at times, like when you think you've overslept because it's so bright out, or you stay up too late because you don't realize that it's as late as it is.

I enjoy the darkness in the winter a lot. Along with tons of snow it makes for a great atmosphere. A time of peace and quiet.

The near 24-hour daylight in the summer is cool at first but after a month or so it gets tiring. There's no time to wind down, there's always an urge to do something because hey, it's light outside. Summer would feel wrong with long dark nights though.

I actually noticed it moving from South Texas to Colorado. While I don't see the need for 5:35 am sunrises, I hate the earlier sunsets in winter ONLY because it affects my job. If it weren't for my job, then personally, I'd love it getting darker sooner. We gain an extra hour in summer and lose an hour in winter due to back home in Texas. Right now our sunrise/sunset time is 5:35am/8:22pm. Back home in South Texas it's 6:41am/8:21pm.
